This updated product is an update to our previous power converter module, here: 48-12V DC DC Converter, 25A.
This new version has a much reduced footprint, by using mainly SMD components and getting rid of the bulky Molex connectors used to provide and supply power in the old version. Further, the microcontroller is moved onto the board to provide better voltage and current measurements, as well as temperature measurements from three zones on the module (droop diode, output power plane, and microcontroller temperature).
The fuse has been moved to the input side of the module, as testing has shown the GE Barracuda to be very reliable in it’s short-circuit and over-current protection.
The module communicates over I2C, using an address programmed via DIP switches. The I2C is optoisolated, providing an additional layer of separation between any dirty electronics downstream from this module and any sensitive electronics that are interfacing with this module.
